A very popular park in the very heart of Kyiv, adjacent to Taras Shevchenko Boulevard and adjacent to the university of the same name. It is located within walking distance from Independence Square and Khreshchatyk.
The park is beautiful and well maintained, there are many trees and shrubs. Students from the neighboring university and local youth love to relax on green lawns. In summer, you can sit in the shade on a bench, in an armchair or at a cafe table. In the evenings, street musicians perform here, and there is an open-air cinema. There is a pump room with water in the park.
A majestic monument to Taras Shevchenko rises in the center. You can climb the stairs to the monument. Having wandered along the alleys, you can see a small modern sculpture “Kohannya-Vsesvit”. This is a transparent couple surrounded by flowers - a young man and a girl embracing in love. On one of the benches, “Classic Grandmother” sits with her legs dangling - a funny old woman in a headscarf, with a bag and a sparrow on her head.
A new attraction of the park is the young Oak of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn. The seedling was planted in 2016 in honor of a public figure, philanthropist and economist. There is a commemorative plaque nearby.
The play area of the park is called "Garden". Since the fifties of the last century, lovers have gathered here to play a game of dominoes, checkers or chess. In 2000, the corner was repaired, new tables, benches and awnings were installed. Today, board game lovers come here every day.
