Metro
The best way to travel long distances. Unfortunately, it is not available in all areas, especially on the left bank, but there is a metro in the center and near the main attractions.
Travel costs 8 hryvnias. You can pay at the metro entrance, at the yellow turnstile, with a contactless Visa/Mastercard or Google Pay/ Apple Pay card. Please note that payment by card is only available at yellow turnstiles, which are available at all stations. They may not be completely colored yellow, but you'll know when you see them.
In the metro, you can buy a ticket for several trips, but there is no special point in this — it does not give a discount. The only reason for registration is that you don't have a bank card.
Bus and Trolleybus
Big yellow buses with at least three doors. Unlike minibuses, they are recommended for use, but there is a caveat with payment: you need the Kiev Digital app, its peculiarity is that there is no English version. Tram
Quite a rare form of transport. For tourists, only route 12 Kontraktovaya Ploshchad — Puscha-Voditsa can be of interest. You can take it to the resort area with lakes. The route passes through a forest, and the tram line was built in 1900. Payment is the same as for buses and trolleybuses.
Minibuses (Marshrutka)
Small buses, can be any color, but more often yellow. Payment is made in cash only, and the driver can pick it up. It costs 15 hryvnias. The route network is large, and some places can only be reached by minibus (except for taxis, of course).
We do not recommend using it: they are often crowded and there are no seats. You need to announce your stop to the driver in advance, while shouting, as the driver may not hear you.
Electric train
Railway mode of transport. This is a train with seating. It runs infrequently, but on schedule. You can use it to go to some remote cities in the region. There is one route within the city limits, and it is called "City Train". It mostly passes through industrial zones and is of no interest.
